Chill Journey: Mountain Edition
Posted on Feb 23, 2025 / Updated May 31, 2025
Hi there! I’m Calm Shizuya, your chill lifestyle guide. 😌⛷️
This time, I took a trip to one of Tohoku’s legendary ski resorts—Appi Kogen—to reset my soul with fluffy powder snowand a snow-viewing hot spring.
Yes, I was totonotta (completely reset & recharged).
🚠 Starting the Day with a Gondola Ride

Nothing beats being the first on the lift.
The morning started with clear blue skies, crisp air, and the satisfying click of boots locking into bindings.
Appi’s gondola gives you not just altitude, but attitude. You know you’re about to enter powder heaven.
❄️ First Run = Perfect Powder

Right off the top: dry, untouched powder.
I almost screamed (quietly, of course) with joy.
Smooth, silent, and surreal—it felt like floating.
Yes, this is what I live for.
⛷️ Vista Quad: Deep Snow Challenge

Next up, I challenged myself with the Vista Quad lift.
Here, the terrain got a little more wild—trees, moguls, and knee-deep fluff that made me work for each turn.
Exhausting? Yes.
Satisfying? Absolutely.
🍛 Lunch Time = Keema Curry

After all that riding, it was time to refuel.
I hit the food court and went straight for the Keema Curry.
Spicy, hearty, and the perfect combo with snowy scenery.
Note: Calories don’t count on the mountain.
🌨️ Afternoon Reset: Fresh Snowfall
Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better…
It started snowing.
Powder got deeper, lines reset themselves, and the mountain whispered,
“Welcome back.”
♨️ To Finish: “Shirakaba no Yu” Onsen

Sore legs, cold toes, warm soul.
The open-air bath at Shirakaba no Yu offered snowflakes falling on my face while I soaked in bliss.
This is what Chill Japan is all about. 🧖♂️❄️
🚡 Bonus: Next Stop = Hakkoda?
I’m thinking…
Why not extend the trip and check out Hakkoda Ropeway tomorrow?
Stay tuned—more chill rides ahead.
💬 Final Thoughts
A day of pure snow, perfect silence, and hot springs to finish.
Appi Kogen reminded me why we chase these moments.
Not for the speed, not for the thrill,
but for the quiet joy of being in sync with the mountain.
If you’re ever in Japan during winter—go to Appi.
And don’t forget to chill. Always.
